Coffee lovers were outraged when Starbucks launched a reusable cup promotion last month that ended up selling out in just a few minutes—but a new promotion tied to Starbucks' latest reusable tumbler might make up for the snafu, especially if you're able to get your hands on one.

Starbucks is now selling a new 16-ounce tumbler (officially called the Brewed Refill Tumbler) that you can use to get a free Grande hot coffee or tea every single day in January. Delish reports that if you simply hand the barista your reusable tumbler, they'll fill it with any of Starbucks' brewed coffee or tea—from Blonde Roast to Mint Majesty.

This tumbler is a tad more expensive than Starbucks' other reusable drinkware—it's available for $40 plus tax.

But if you break down the math, it could save you quite a lot in January if you drink coffee every single day: brewed coffee at Starbucks can cost anywhere in between $2.39 and $2.89 plus tax, with prices varying in different markets. There are 31 days in January, so you'd be looking at upwards of $90 for a month's worth of Grande coffees in most metropolitan areas. With the reusable tumbler, you'd save around $50.

More ways to hack Starbucks' menu:

Even if you don't drink coffee every single day, Delish points out that using the tumbler for 14 free coffees will allow you to break even—and get a trusty new coffee cup. Plus, just think of all the paper cups you'd be saving all year long.

Starbucks’ reusable mug would make a great gift for any coffee lover in your life, too. If you can't make it to Starbucks, or if you find that your local store has already sold out (darn!), you can find a few floating around on eBay. Look for a stainless silver design featuring Starbucks' signature logo towards the bottom of the bottle.

Starbucks Will Give You FREE Coffee For A Month If You Buy This Reusable Cup

After Starbucks' free reusable cup promotion had people running to their nearest Starbucks last month, the coffee giant is giving people another reason to go green: this year's reusable tumbler.

Available in stores now, the 16-ounce Brewed Refill Tumbler can be purchased at any Starbucks store for $40. Once you've got it, you can return every single day in January for a free Grande brewed hot coffee or hot tea. Yep, F-R-E-E. Just hand your barista your cup and they'll fill it up with any brewed coffee (Blonde Roast, Pike Place, Caffè Misto, etc.) or tea (Green, Mint Majesty, Jade Citrus Mint, etc.) you want.

If you're wondering whether the deal is worth it, let's break down the math. In New York, a grande brewed coffee costs $2.89 with tax. Multiply that by 31 and you're looking at $89.59 for the month. With the $40 cup, you're saving $50 if you take advantage of the promotion every day.

Even if you're not an every day coffee or tea drinker, if you go every other day (14 times), you'll make your money back, and get a tumbler out of it.

Speaking of, this year's tumbler is pretty neutral compared to previous years'. which means you won't feel silly carrying it around after the promotion ends. The stainless steel silver tumbler is covered in faint silver squares with stars or the Starbucks' 'S' inside and a lined grid overlay.

Starbucks Free Coffee

In fact, you can get all the free coffee you can drink. You might be a jittery, anxious, caffeine-riddled mess by the end, and you’ll probably have diabetes and heart problems to deal with after all that sugar and caffeine. But you’ll have beaten the system. That counts for something, right? Just click the picture to read our piece on how to get free coffee from Starbucks.

Starbucks Is Offering Front-Line Workers Free Coffee Every Day For The Rest Of The Year

To spread a little holiday cheer and say "thank you," Starbucks is giving front-line responders free coffee for a month. With U.S. cases of COVID-19 rising as of Dec. 3, the Seattle-based coffee company wants to recognize people working on the front lines. If you or someone you know are a health care worker, member of the military, or any other kind of essential personnel, here’s how Starbucks’ free coffee for front-line workers deal in December works.

As the coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of slowing down, Starbucks is keeping front-line workers top of mind. With the rise in cases as of Dec. 3, front-line responders are working hard to keep communities safe and to help stem the spread of the virus. As a token of Starbucks' appreciation for these heroes of the pandemic, front-line workers are eligible to receive a free tall hot or iced brewed coffee through Thursday, Dec. 31.

To get one, customers who identify as front-line responders can head into a participating company-operated or select licensed Starbucks locations to redeem the offer by asking for your free tall brewed coffee. The deal doesn't specify how many times per day it's good for, but it appears front-line workers can redeem it more than once during the month-long deal.

Eligible front-line responders who can claim the deal include health care workers — doctors, nurses, etc. — community service authorities (like firefighters and law enforcement officers), hospital staff, active-duty military, mental health workers, contact tracers, airline workers such as pilots, flight attendants, and TSA, vaccine and pharmaceutical researchers, and medical researchers. You can see the full list here.

In addition to free coffee, Starbucks has also donated $100,000 to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) — which provides virtual mental health resources for workers, according to the company's COVID-19 response page. The coffee company also plans to surprise 50,000 front-line responders with helpful gifts during the holiday season, such as care packages and Starbucks gift cards.

Front-line responder or not, you should be sure to stay safe on Starbucks runs by following the company's coronavirus guidelines and the coronavirus safety recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as of Sept. 11. When inside, make sure you wear a mask, practice social distancing where possible and wash your hands after leaving the store or handling any packaging.

If you think you’re showing symptoms of coronavirus, which include fever, shortness of breath, and cough, call your doctor before going to get tested. If you’re anxious about the virus’s spread in your community, visit the CDC for up-to-date information and resources, or seek out mental health support. Let's Get Cozy! Here's How to Make a Starbucks Caramel Brûlée Latte at Home

I think I look forward to Starbucks's holiday drink menu more than any other holiday tradition — I mean, their seasonal offerings are practically made to be sipped during a soft snowfall or in front of a fireplace. And my favorite drink, which I could consume in large amounts hot or iced, is the Caramel Brûlée Latte. It's basically like a smooth and rich caramel coffee, and it smells and tastes so toasty and wonderful.

In an effort to save a little money for gift giving this year, I opted out of hitting my drive-through Starbucks every day and instead learned how to make the Caramel Brûlée Latte at home. It's one of the simpler copycat recipes I've tried out, and the ingredients I bought last me a couple of weeks, which is always a plus.

To have the added Starbucks flavors, I bought a bag of their own espresso roast. Honestly, I could have used any brand, but there was something about using one I know really well that made me feel like a master barista. This quick recipe includes brewing the espresso, frothing the coffee with milk (I chose cashew for this round, but any kind works), and adding vanilla syrup and caramel sauce. It sounds basic, but it's really incredible and doesn't have an overwhelmingly sweet flavor like you might think. I have my own Ikea milk frother for that creaming top texture, but you can use a traditional whisk for the same effect.

While Starbucks tops the drinks with whipped cream and caramel brûlée bits, I went for mixing in more caramel sauce and a cute gingerbread mug toppers I got from Trader Joe's, but feel free to use what you like. I tested this out as both an iced and hot latte, and both are amazing. My only tip here is if you do go for iced, wait a few minutes for the coffee to properly cool after you pour it over ice.

10 Starbucks Drinks That Have Less Than 10 Grams of Sugar

These healthier Starbucks drinks will help you cut back on unwanted calories and sugar.

Starbucks is known for their over-the-top coffee and tea drinks. Though these beverages are a tasty treat every once in a while, some of them can contain over 60 grams of sugar in a grande size! For those who are worried about added sugar, either for general health or because they have a medical condition like diabetes, ordering these beverages can easily skyrocket your sugar levels.

Often the most delicious and tempting drinks on the café menus are the ones with the highest levels of added sugars. But we all know that while yummy is the upside, the downside is dealing with the energy crash that can come after consuming a super sweet beverage. Not to mention, consuming too much sugar can be detrimental to our overall health, contributing to unwanted weight gain and over time increasing your risk of chronic diseases.

Starbucks recognizes that just because someone wants to be mindful about sugar doesn&apost mean they want to be limited to just black coffee or unsweetened tea and has made sure that their menu includes many wonderful options that are all between 0 and 10 grams of total sugar. Starbucks doesn&apost provide added sugar counts on their menu, so some of the sugar in these drinks may naturally come from milk, but much of it is added sugar from sweeteners and syrups. The recommended daily intake for added sugar per the American Heart Association is 24 grams (about 6 teaspoons) for women and 36 grams (about 9 teaspoons) for men. (Learn more about how many grams of sugar you should have per day.)

10 Starbucks Hacks That Will Change Your Life (or at Least Your Mornings)

You love your no-foam, extra-shot, soy-milk latte, but you don&rsquot love the dent your daily coffee habit leaves in your wallet. Nor are you a fan of walking up to your favorite Starbucks only to be greeted by a giant line. Enter these genius tips and tricks that will make your morning caffeine fix just a little bit sweeter. (Because obviously getting through the day without your cup of joe is not an option.)

1. Never pay for water
No need to fork over $2 for a bottle of H2O. The ice and tap water at Starbucks are filtered (and free). Cha-ching.

2. Party like it&rsquos your birthday
Become a Starbucks rewards member at no cost and you&rsquoll get a free drink on your birthday (plus other perks like special offers and paying by phone).

3. Use a reusable cup to save 10 cents per purchase
Hey, it might not sound like a lot but every penny counts. And doing your part for the environment? Priceless.

4. There are secret sizes
You won&rsquot see it advertised, but for those mornings when you just want a mini caffeine jolt, the eight-ounce short is the perfect choice. Or if that venti isn&rsquot big enough, try the 31-ounce trenta for cold drinks. (Also, maybe try cutting back on caffeine for a few days?)

5. Make your own chai tea latte for almost half the price
Creamy chai lattes? Delightful. The $5 cost for a grande? Not so much. Order a chai tea instead and add your own milk and you&rsquoll save a whopping $2 per drink. Genius.

6. Order a French press
If you&rsquore grabbing a coffee with a friend or planning on staying put for a while, consider ordering a French press instead of multiple coffees. It&rsquoll usually work out cheaper.

7. Get your pooch a &lsquoPuppuccino&rsquo
It&rsquos a small cup of whipped cream for your dog, aka the cutest thing ever.

8. Order online to skip the line
You&rsquore running late for work but can&rsquot possibly get through those morning meetings without your grande capp. Except when you get to Starbs, there&rsquos a huge line. No problem: whip out your phone, order your beverage on the app, pick it up at the counter and you&rsquore done. Morning saved. (Psst. here&rsquos how to stop being late all the time.)

9. Get a refill on regular coffee for 50 cents
And if you use your registered Starbucks card, it&rsquos free. We&rsquoll take another cuppa joe, please.

10. Get your baked goods heated
Because everything tastes better when it&rsquos warm and toasty. Note: This doesn&rsquot apply to treats with icing on them (nobody wants to burn their mouth on a lemon pound cake).

Starbucks’ First New Beverages of 2020 Are Here & There’s No Dairy In Sight

With a new year, comes a bevy of exciting new beverages &mdash if you’re Starbucks anyway. This year, Starbucks is rolling out an entire menu full of drinks sans dairy. The world-famous coffee chain started serving soy lattes way back in 1997, added coconut milk to its lineup of milk alternatives in 2015 and almond milk joined the family in 2016. The addition of these dairy-free milk alternatives saw the rise of fan-favorite drinks like the Coconutmilk Mocha Macchiato and the Horchata Almondmilk Frappuccino blended beverage. Now, Starbucks is adding two new drinks to its new dairy-free menu and a new plant-based milk alternative: oatmilk.

Let’s talk about those new drinks first. Starbucks has added an Almondmilk Honey Flat White and a Coconutmilk Latte to their line up and naturally, we had to try them. According to Starbucks, “the Almondmilk Honey Flat White combines shots of Blonde Espresso with a Honey Blend and steamed almond milk, finished with the Flat White&rsquos signature dot of foam.” The coconut milk latte is made with shots of Starbucks Blonde Espresso combined with steamed coconut milk and is then finished with a strike of cascara sugar. Unfortunately, we could not find the strike of cascara sugar in our Coconutmilk Latte (the drink to the left in the picture below).

So how did they taste? Our deputy editor Erika tried the Coconutmilk Latte. “I was pleasantly surprised by this drink, because I don’t normally like coconut milk in coffee, despite the fact that I love coconut. But this tasted creamy and not overpoweringly coconutty or too sweet &mdash perhaps because my order didn’t come with the promised ‘strike of cascara sugar’ on top.”

One of our video producers, Sam tried the Almondmilk Honey Flat White but first pointed out that it felt kind of weird that Starbucks is now advertising a dairy-free menu, despite offering milk alternatives for fifteen years. “First of all, I&rsquove been getting my Starbucks drinks with either soy or almond milk for years and years, so I was initially a bit confused about the idea of their new dairy-free menu. To me, the entire menu is dairy-free, as long as you order something with a milk substitute and don&rsquot get whipped cream. But I guess the representation of dairy-free alternatives is nice, as a lactose-intolerant consumer. I feel seen.”

As far as the taste of the new beverage, Sam found it ever so slightly lacking. “I will say that I would think a drink called the Almondmilk Honey Flat White would be a bit sweeter with the addition of the honey but that&rsquos not the case. The drink actually doesn&rsquot taste sweet to me at all. It just tastes like a normal flat white. It does taste a bit nutty, as almond milk itself has a nutty flavor. In my opinion, it&rsquos also not as rich as a lot of milk alternatives (soy, oat, and coconut are all creamier). If you&rsquore someone who is a fan of hazelnut flavors and doesn&rsquot mind sacrificing a little richness in your coffee, you might consider giving almond milk a try.”

OK, so we enjoyed but weren’t blown away by the new beverages but the dairy-free options are definitely nice. Now back to that oatmilk. It was without a doubt, the trendiest beverage of 2019 and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere in 2020.

According to Starbucks, oatmilk “is known for its mild flavor and velvety foam” and “starting today, approximately 1,300 participating stores in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri and Wisconsin will begin to offer oatmilk as an additional non-dairy option, along with the featured Oatmilk Honey Latte.” The Oatmilk Honey Lattes aren’t offered here in New York so we weren’t able to try them but Starbucks describes them as “made with Starbucks Blonde Espresso infused with Honey Blend and steamed oatmilk with a honey topping that is both sweet and savory.” Sweet and savory is definitely something I would be willing to try. Starbucks, please bring these to New York soon!
