The newest creation combines a burger with a club sandwich
The burger will be available until early October.
If you happen to live in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Monroe counties in Florida, you have the opportunity to be one of the first in the country to sample a brand-new offering from the fast-food mega-chain: a Clubhouse Quarter Pounder.
The burger, which sells for $4.79, according to SouthFlorida.com, places the quarter-pound patty on a new soft, warm, shiny "artisan" bun, and tops it with caramelized grilled onions, applewood-smoked bacon, white Cheddar, leaf lettuce, tomato, and a special sauce. It appears to be the next version of the previously tested "Clubhouse Angus," which was essentially the same except for the use of a crusty, sesame seed-topped bun. The Angus line was discontinued earlier this year.
The burger will be available until early October, so drop by soon if you’re looking to sample one. If it performs well, it will most likely soon join the existing roster of three new quarter-pounders: the Bacon Habanero Ranch, the Deluxe Quarter Pounder, and the Quarter Pounder Bacon and Cheese.
McDonald's testing fresh, not frozen, hamburger patties
McDonald's is testing to see if consumers warm up to hamburger patties that don't come out of the freezer.
The fast-food chain is testing hamburgers made from fresh beef in 14 locations in the Dallas area, the company says. Instead of frozen patties, burgers like the Bacon Clubhouse and Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese are being molded from freshly ground beef.
If rolled out nationwide, the move could help McDonald's repel competition from rival chains like Shake Shack and In-N-Out, both of which tout using fresh, never frozen, beef in their burgers.
The patties are formed from the same grade of beef as the frozen variety, and employees are cooking them as customers order.
The test has been going on since November, but "it's very premature to draw any conclusions" yet, says spokeswoman Lisa McComb. Considering McDonald's has 14,000 locations in the U.S., rolling out fresh patties to all of them would no doubt be a huge undertaking.
All-day breakfast galvanizes McDonald's earnings in Q1
"Like all of our tests, this one, too, is designed to see what works and what doesn’t within our restaurants," McComb says, adding that the company is monitoring operations, customer response and price points.
Fast-food chains have drawn the ire of health advocates and customers for menus heavy on processed food and a lack of fresh options.
It's trying other experiments as well, such as new sizes of the Big Mac. In test is a huge a one-third pound "Grand Mac" and a single patty "Mac Jr." in some restaurants in Ohio and Dallas-Fort Worth.
McDonald’s
Burger: What does the soul of a rapper taste like? That’s what McDonald’s tried to answer with its breakout Travis Scott meal, supposedly the Grammy winner’s go-to order during pit stops to the Golden Arches. So popular was McDonald’s celebrity-endorsed meal that they reportedly ran out of ingredients. But the harsh reality is that the Travis Scott meal (I paid $9.19 after tax) is just a Quarter Pounder with cheese, bacon and lettuce, medium fries and a Sprite. When I ordered the Travis Scott meal by name, the cashier said they didn’t serve it anymore, which is technically true: the promotion ended in September. So I ordered a Quarter Pounder and Sprite instead. First I overturned the bun, which was topped with a wet slurry of ketchup, mayonnaise, slivered onions and unasked-for pickles, half-melted American cheese and bacon crumbles instead of strips. The Travis Scott meal tasted like McDonald’s smells: onions and grease. Not even watered-down Sprite could salvage this mess.
Fries: The French fries began with a pleasing crispy-salty crunch but hardened within two minutes. After drowning them in tangy barbecue sauce the flavor improved. Thanks for the condiment tip, Travis.
Ice cream: Cold, creamy and surprisingly decadent, McDonald’s vanilla McFlurry soft-serve (I paid $2.89) easily rivaled the thick richness of Culver’s frozen custard. It’s unhealthier, of course, and packed with corn syrup and cellulose gum, but each bite had heft and they’re a much-cheaper option than Culver’s in a pinch. Until you hear that one dreaded sentence that shakes every fast-food connoisseur to their bones: “Sorry, the McFlurry machine is down.”
Verdict: Avoid the Travis Scott meal unless you crave quarter-pounders, but the McFlurry’s surprisingly creamy base is a pleasing alternative to the more expensive treats at Culver’s.

McDonald’s Clubhouse Quarter Pounder Sounds Nice, Wants To Eat Itself
It’s old news that McDonald’s is testing a new variation on the Quarter Pounder, the super-fancy “Clubhouse Quarter Pounder,” in a few counties in the Miami area. What struck us about this new burger wasn’t its contents, but the food styling in this photo. A bacon strip looks like a human tongue licking its lips in the universal cartoon symbol for “yum.” Is it supposed to be clever? It’s creepy.
This is natural, my colleagues pointed out. “Even bacon wants to eat itself,” pointed out Mary Beth Quirk, probably while eating some bacon.
Here’s the official description of the burger: “a quarter pound beef patty, a new soft artisan roll, caramelized grilled onions, thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon, white cheddar, leaf lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and a ‘unique special sauce’.” This is all very tasty-sounding, which is confusing, because I thought it was McDonald’s selling this item. Also, that bacon tongue is still scary.
The Clubhouse Quarter Pounder is available at slightly different prices, between $4.49 and $4.79, in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe counties. If you get the chance to try it, let us know what you think!

McDonald's Is Testing Burgers Made with Fresh Beef
In what could perhaps be a revolutionary move for the fast food industry, McDonald’s has decided to try making its burgers with fresh–never frozen–beef patties.
The trial will be limited to just 14 restaurants in the Dallas area, Nation’s Restaurant News reported. But if it goes well, and McDonald’s decides to expand it to more restaurants, the decision could mark one of the largest shifts in decades to the fast food chain’s menu–and to fast food in general.
For now, the test applies just to quarter-pounder patties used in the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Bacon Clubhouse, and the Homestyle Burger, a regional burger in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
McDonald’s spokesperson Lisa McComb said it’s too early to determine whether the test will be expanded. “Like all of our tests, this one too is designed to see what works and what doesn&rsquot within our restaurants by considering the operational experience, consumer response, price points and other important information which may inform future decisions,” she told Nation’s Restaurant News.
An expansion would require a massive shake-up to McDonald’s supply chain, which relies on a large network of firms that make, freeze, and ship beef patties to its 14,000+ U.S. locations. If the company made the switch, it would be the largest chain to use fresh beef, outpacing Wendy’s, which has about 6,000 North American locations.
Still, shifting to fresh beef could improve product quality and Mickey D’s reputation among customers. While the chain has seen a sales bump due to the introduction of all-day breakfast last fall, burger sales are still sluggish.
It’s not the only effort that McDonald’s is taking to bring more customers in the door. In recent months, the chain has also tested menu items like a breakfast McGriddle sandwich and garlic fries. It’s also trying to stay competitive with chains like Burger King and Wendy’s&mdashwhich offer deals with 5 items for $4&mdashwith the unveiling of the McPick 2 for $2 promotion in November. Several months later, it upped the price of that deal to $5.
The Lawsuit

A man by the name of Andrew Lavin decided to file this lawsuit. To give you any insight about his profile, a simple Google search will tell you he's only been reviewed once, likely by this cheese-hating dream team.
He busted out his big boy work to find out that the cheese costs a cool .20-.40 cents extra. In Lavin's eyes, this was enough for a lawsuit. He came up with a 32-page lawsuit, claiming that the plaintiffs "suffered injury" because they were "overcharged."
Lavin also claimed that McDonald's violated the anti-trust laws by not explicitly stating that cheese comes on the Quarter Pounders. The argument was that they were "overcharged and compelled to pay for unwanted cheese."

Mcdonald’s is an American fast-food chain that began operating in 1940 and currently has over 36,000 locations. Mcdonald’s calories are on the higher end of the spectrum and need to be considered to maintain a balanced diet.
Over the years, Mcdonald’s has made changes to their menu prices and added some new variations of their regular menu items. Some of these notable mentions include their Worldwide Favorites collection, Buttermilk Crispy Chicken, Chicken Tenders, McMuffin, Chicken Sandwiches, Salads, All Day Breakfast items, McCafe menu, and several more. Kids also share a similar affection towards Mcdonald’s because of the toys included with their happy meals.
Mcdonald’s Frequently Asked Questions:
WHAT TIME DOES MCDONALD’S SERVE BREAKFAST?
The All-Day Breakfast Menu is available from 4:00 am, depending on the location.
Since the introduction of the breakfast menu in 1975, Mcdonald’s has expanded from just offering the Egg Muffin to Sausage McMuffin, Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit, Sausage Burrito, Hot Cakes, Sausage McGriddles, and Big Breakfast to name a few. With so much variety Mcdonald’s was unfortunately only able to offer breakfast till 10:30 am. But due to the recent backlash in 2013, customers demanded extended availability of the breakfast menu, which lead to Mcdonald’s CEO at the time Don Thompson to announce the All-Day Breakfast Menu.
WHEN IS THE MCRIB AVAILABLE?
Since its introduction to the menu in 1981, it has disappeared and reappeared more often than Houdini himself. Currently, Mcdonald’s serves it as a seasonal item, and it is now available since October 2019 in many locations(some of our readers have had a hard time getting them in New York and Connecticut).
WHAT SEASONAL ITEMS IS MCDONALD’S OFFERING IN 2019?
Each year during the holiday season, Mcdonald’s launches new items, and in 2019 they’ve introduced the McRib, McCafé Cinnamon Cookie Latte, and McCafé Donut Sticks. Later on, after the introduction of McCafé Donut Sticks in 2019, Mcdonald’s began offering a chocolate icing condiment along with the donut sticks as well (which by the way complement each other nicely).
McDonald's Customers Sue Over Being Forced to Pay For Cheese on Quarter Pounder
Two McDonald's customers are suing the fast food chain for $5 million.
They are claiming injury. Because the double quarter pounder comes with cheese, essentially.
Do they have a point . or is this lawsuit insultingly absurd?
Cynthia Kissner and Leonard Werner don't like cheese on their double quarter pounders.
But, to be clear, this is not a case of people complaining about being served an undesired ingredient. Or of them being poisoned or pranked.
They are seeking class action status for their lawsuit, which was filed on May 8 in Fort Lauterdale.
(Yes, these people are in Florida. The adventures of Florida Man and Florida Woman continue)
According to the contents of the lawsuit, McDonald's previously offered four different menu options for the quarter pounder.
Two of those options apparently came without cheese by default, and cost between 30 and 90 cents less.
"At some point," the lawsuit accuses, McDonald's made a change to their menu.
They are no longer "separately displaying these products for purchase on menus, and currently lists the availability of Quarter Pounder with Cheese and Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese."
Right. McDonald's has made a number of changes to its menu over the years. It's pretty standard to overhaul things to add new items or simplify options.
If you are one of those who doesn't want cheese on your double quarter pounder, you can simply say "no cheese," right?
But Kissner and Werner say that this doesn't take care of the problem.
The issue, they say, is that the double quarter pounder's price without cheese is too high.
"Customers have been forced, and continue to be overcharged for these products."
"By being forced to pay for two slices of cheese, which they do not want, order, or receive, to be able to purchase their desired product."
So it sounds like they are demanding that the price for the food product decrease when they request that cheese not be included.
And they assert that McDonald's making this menu change is raking in the dough -- unfairly.
"McDonald's is being unjustly enriched by these practices because it receives payment for cheese it does not deliver to its customers."
According to The Miami Herald, Kissner and Werner believe that their class action suit for $5 million is justified because:
They "have suffered injury as a result of their purchases because they were overcharged, and were required to pay for cheese, which is not a component of either a Quarter Pounder or a Double Quarter Pounder, that they did not want and did not receive"
"We do not believe the claims in this lawsuit have legal merit."
Their statement continues:
"The advertised Quarter Pounder burger comes with cheese. We try to accommodate our customers’ requests by allowing them to customize their orders, such as a Quarter Pounder with no cheese."
There are many examples of real and valid lawsuits against major companies that are totally valid. Some actions by heartless corporations have ruined lives.
This . does not sound like one of them.
Remember, this is not about people being given cheese in their actual food when they did not want it. That would be different.
Is it not industry standard for almost all restaurants to keep the price for an item the same, regardless of what special requests a customer makes to remove an ingredient?
Take an ingredient off of a specialty pizza order from any restaurant -- the price will stay the same. That's how it works at every fast food restaurant.
The only thing that sets this apart is that McDonald's once offered a double quarter pounder without cheese.
We don't know what a court will do with this, but we can say that we don't know of any legal statute requiring a business to offer past menu items for all eternity.
Perhaps there will be a surprise twist or they'll make a compelling case.
But so far, it sounds like this pair of Florida Persons are just embarrassing themselves.
This burger blew us away. The beef patty was juicy and fresh, and the lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo all worked together in topping harmony. My coworker and I both said "wow" after tasting this one—it was that good. If you've got a few extra dollars to spend at McDonald's, this burger is worth it.
Overall, we found that paying a little more at McDonald's will get you a better burger. But if you'd rather stick to the cheaper options, like the McDouble and the cheeseburger, you can always upgrade them by adding your own toppings.
McDonald's ( MCD ) is conducting a "limited test" with burgers made out of fresh beef at 14 restaurants in Dallas, according to company spokeswoman Lisa McComb.
In the test, the fresh beef is only used on the quarter pounder, including the quarter pounder with cheese, the double quarter pounder with cheese, the bacon clubhouse and the homestyle burger, a regional product that is only available in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The test has been going on in since November, without any advertising.
McDonald's typically serves hamburger patties that have been "flash frozen."
"Flash freezing is when beef is ground fresh and then quickly frozen to seal in fresh favor," says McDonald's on its web site.
McDonald's is testing fresh beef, instead of frozen patties, but only in quarter pounders at 14 restaurants in Dallas.
The company said the burgers are flash frozen by suppliers and are generally grilled up at a restaurant two or three weeks after.
McComb said it's too early to tell whether fresh beef will become a permanent ingredient in the McDonald's menu, or if it will expand to other restaurants.
McDonald's often rolls out various experimental menu items tailored to regional tastes. For example, the company is testing Gilroy Garlic Fries in some of its San Francisco restaurants.
The company is also testing a low-calorie breakfast menu at 800 restaurants in Southern California, using egg whites, Chobani Greek Yogurt and kale.
Wall Street seems to be lovin' it. McDonald's shares have gained 10% year-to-date, reaching an all-time high.
Profits surged 35% in the most recent quarter, thanks to a boost from its new, all-day breakfast.
Remember the McDonald's cheeseless Quarter Pounders suit? A judge has spoken
A federal court in Miami dismissed a lawsuit claiming fast-food giant McDonald’s overcharged customers who ordered cheese-less Quarter Pounders by forcing them to pay its full normal price for the Quarter Pounder with Cheese.
McDonald’s had argued that a ruling favoring plaintiffs Cynthia Kissner and Leonard Werner would set a precedent forcing restaurants to reduce menu item prices to reflect a customer’s decision to hold or delete an ingredient. And that would unleash “utter chaos” in the retail food business, the chain told the court.
Kissner and Werner said it was unfair that McDonald’s failed to give a break to cheeseless Quarter Pounder customers ordering at the chain’s restaurant counters because the plain version was available through the chain’s mobile apps for 30 cents to 90 cents less than the version with cheese.
Quarter Pounders without cheese were available as a standard menu item for years, but disappeared from the company’s menu boards in recent years, the plaintiffs said. They were seeking class-action certification and damages exceeding $5 million.
In his ruling, U.S. District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas said the plaintiffs failed to establish that they were entitled to relief for their “unwanted cheese vexation” based on any of the three legal standards they claimed McDonald’s violated.
The claim that McDonald’s violated federal antitrust laws by tying the sale of cheese to the burger “is absurd and fails,” the judge wrote, because the plaintiffs did not establish that cheese is a standalone item offered for sale.
“Under any common sense analysis, there is no market for a customer to come into a McDonald’s restaurant and order a slice or two of ‘cheese’ as a product that is separate, distinct, and independent from any other product or menu item. Nor is there a separate product market for a customer to order a slice of tomato, or a slice of lettuce, or a slice of pickle, etc.,” Dimitrouleas wrote.
The plaintiffs’ claim that McDonald’s violated the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act “fails from the start,” the judge wrote. “If a particular McDonald’s restaurant does not list an item on its counter or drive-through menu, and a customer placing his order at the counter or drive-through requests a customization of the offered product, a customer is not being deceived or otherwise treated unfairly by not being charged less.”
I agree, the very funny opinion
Excuse me for not being able to participate in the discussions now - there is no free time. But I will be released - I will definitely write that I think on this question.
Bravo, it seems to me, is the brilliant phrase
